WEST SACRAMENTO – The suspect in a September shooting involving a UPS driver in West Sacramento died after fleeing a traffic stop in the south Sacramento area, authorities said.
The Wes Sacramento Police Department said detectives who apprehended the suspect Thursday morning located the wanted suspect and attempted to pull him over at Valley High Drive and Hollyhurst Way.
The suspect crashed shortly after takeoff on Cosumnes River Boulevard, just east of Franklin Boulevard.
The suspect, who is yet to be identified, was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
The crash closed roads and affected nearby Sacramento Regional Transit trains.
West Sacramento police later confirmed they were looking for a suspect in a September shooting that injured a UPS driver.
Investigators said the shooting stemmed from road rage at Industrial Boulevard and Terminal Street. The UPS driver was shot twice but survived.
