Acer offers the Acer Aspire 5 A515 – a 15.6 inch format office laptop – in countless configurations between 400 and 900 euros. The model tested here can be found for around €500 ($518). Tiger Lake processors from Pentium to Core i7 are used across the range. Higher priced models even come with a GeForce MX450 graphics card.
Our review model is in the lower half of the pricing bracket and is a great choice for a simple and affordable office laptop. The CPU manages daily use (office, internet, streaming) without breaking a sweat. To achieve this, you get the help of 8 GB RAM. Memory expansion is possible because the computer has one free memory slot.
The mass storage provided should be enough (512 GB SSD, PCIe 3, M.2 2280). If, however, this was not the case, the Aspire can be fitted with an additional 2.5 inch storage medium. A SATA slot and mounting frame can be found inside the laptop.
Positive: in general, the laptop works quietly to heat up quietly and hardly. A full battery charge (53 Wh) is enough to read websites over the Wi-Fi network for almost 8 hours – reasonable and good value. Unfortunately: the battery cannot be charged via USB-C. The matte FHD (IPS) screen won’t win any awards but it’s totally worth it for the price point. The whole package is rounded off with a two-year guarantee and a backlit keyboard.
