A 16-year-old suspect is now in custody in a September shooting outside Roxborough High School in Philadelphia that killed a 14-year-old and injured four other teenagers, police said.
Salim Miller, 16, was arrested Tuesday in the 1800 block of North 24th Street around 2 p.m. and charged with murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and other related charges.
Evidence from a green Ford Explorer connected to the shooting linked Miller to the vehicle, police said. Miller was previously wanted on a bench warrant for an unrelated incident.
Miller is the fourth suspect to be arrested in connection with the September 27 shooting.
Troy Fletcher, 15, Syhid Jones, 17, and Yaseen Bivins, 21, were previously arrested in connection with the shooting. A fifth suspect, 16-year-old Dayron Burney-Thorne, remains at large.
Police said at least six people — five gunmen and a getaway driver — were involved in the shooting. The incident claimed the life of Nicholas Elizalde after the shooter got out of an SUV and opened fire on a group of high school football players following an altercation outside Roxborough High School.
Police believe Nicholas was just an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire when the gunmen targeted a particular group of people while unleashing bullets behind the school.
Philadelphia Sheriff’s Deputy Samir Ahmed sold two illegal guns used in the fatal shooting on Oct. 13, investigators said.
