Guwahati: Gauhati University (GU) has announced hike in admission, registration and other fees related to Ph.D., M Phil, and D.Sc/D Litt courses.
According to a press release, Ph.D. The admission fee for Arts, Law and Arts has been increased to Rs 15,000 and Ph.D. The admission fee for Science, Technology, Medicine, Commerce and Management has been increased to Rs 25,000.
The admission fee for M Phil in Arts, Law and Arts has been increased by Rs 25,000 and the fee has been increased by Rs 30,000 in Science, Technology, Medicine, Commerce and Management.
Also, Gauhati University authorities have increased the monthly fee for Ph.D. (Arts) up to Rs 800 and Ph.D. (Science) up to Rs 1000.
Similarly, the thesis submission fee for Ph.D. was raised to Rs. 8,000 and M Phil submission fee of Rs 3,500.
The university has also increased the fees for viva-vote, extension, thesis printing, and application forms apart from the guide application fee.
A section of university students opposed the increase and described it as ‘unfair’.
