Johnny Depp continues his legal battle with his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard. The actor, who will make a special appearance at Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show, has filed to appeal the court’s decision in Virginia, claiming one of his lawyers defamed Heard.
This new article follows Heard’s claim, described as “false” by Depp’s legal team, which claims the actor should not be held responsible for what his lawyer, Adam Waldman, said.
Heard was referring to a statement made during the six-week trial, in which Waldman said the actress called the police a “hoax,” in an attempt to frame Depp in 2016. During the trial, it was decided that the lawyer would act as Depp’s client.
“Ms. Heard’s conclusion about that one statement is wrong,” the article reads. “Ms. Heard’s claim was so wrong that the trial court should have granted Depp’s motion for summary judgment and his motion to suppress the evidence.”
The filing states that “Ms. Heard did not present evidence at trial that Mr. Depp was involved in directing or creating any of the three Waldman stories. Indeed, Mr. .Depp said he had not seen Waldman’s comments before the counterclaim was filed in August 2020.
Mr. Waldman is an independent contractor, which is said to be unfair to Mr. Depp”, they concluded. “This Court should reverse the judgment on Ms. Heard’s claim regarding Waldman’s April 27 Statement, but affirm the judgment in favor of Mr. Depp. “
