New Delhi: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced the ban on the following new projects costing Rs 1.6 crore in the North East.
Minister Gadkari while addressing a press conference in Guwahati, said that these projects include roads, lines, RoBs, and major bridges across the Brahmaputra river and other waterways.
Gadkari said that Multi-Modal logistics parks are also proposed in Udaipur in Tripura and Silchar in Assam.
He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “we are working to bridge the connectivity gap in the north-east, and give impetus to the infrastructure of the region”.
“About50 Ways of Efficiency and 50 Views are also being developed. Once completed, it will greatly contribute to the tourism sector and the economy of the north-east region,” he added.
Gadkari was on a three-day program to review NH projects in the northeast and Sikkim from Wednesday.
Discussions related to land transfer issues, progress of ongoing projects, proposed projects, use of new technology, disputes and arbitration and possible financial intervention were discussed extensively during the review meetings.
He also reviewed the delayed projects in the four states to understand the reasons for the delay and issued specific instructions on how to proceed, and directed the officials to to complete projects quickly.
