COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Missouri NAACP sent a cease-and-desist letter to Legal Missouri 2022 on Wednesday for some of its chapters to support on its website.
Missouri Legislature 2022 is a group that supports a “yes” vote on Amendment 3 on the November 8 ballot. If passed, it would legalize the lease sale of marijuana and outlaw certain non-violent crimes.
A graphic on its website shows that NAACP Columbia, NAACP St. Louis City and NAACP St. Louis County as a sponsor.
The heads of St. Louis-area and Missouri state leaders have been divided over their support for the amendment.
“In particular, the Missouri Legal 2022 prohibits the use of the name of the Missouri State Conference of the NAACP and any of its members including the following: the St. Louis County Brach; the Columbia Brach; and the related St. Louis Branch. to any and all NAACP units in the state in its publications or otherwise, without the approval of the NAACP,” said the letter.
Legal Missouri 2022 previously received a cease and desist letter from the Missouri State Highway Patrol for displaying its logo in dual traffic.
