Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Minister of State for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Labor and Labour, Government of India, Shri Rameswar Teli, flagged off nine ANGC First Aid and Rescue (ADLS) Medical Colleges in Assam on 3 November 2022 of Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, on the occasion of its Platinum Jubilee function.
While raising the flag of the ambulance, the chief minister, Dr. Speaking on the occasion, MoS, MoPNG Shri Rameswar Teli described ONGC’s CSR initiative as historic. He added that such advanced Ambulances are indicators of the development of Assam State. Referring to the multi-specialty hospital in Sivasagar supported by ONGC, Mr Teli underlined that the quality of health for the common people is one of the main objectives of the company’s CSR initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion Onshore Director Shri Anurag Sharma affirmed ONGC’s commitment towards the development of the people of Assam.
Earlier Dr Sarma handed over the key of the advanced life-saving ambulance to Assam Medical College Principal Dr Sanjib Kakoty.
The flag off ceremony was graced by senior officials including ED-Basin Manager Assam & Assam Arakan Basin, Smt Sushma Rawat, ED-Asset Manager, Assam Asset Shri RK Sharma and ED-Chief-CSR, ONGC, Shri AP Singh.
Advanced life-saving ambulances, equipped with various pre-hospital care equipment such as Ventilator, Defibrillator, Suction Equipment, Nebulizer, Oxygen supply, etc. they must cover medical emergencies covering infant support, injuries, childbirth and accident situations.
This ambulance will be run by Medical College and Hospital, Jorhat, Medical College and Hospital, Silchar; Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur; Guwahati Medical College and Hospital; Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta; Medical College and Hospital, Lakhimpur; Diphu Medical & Hospital; Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh; Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital.
Under the aegis of ONGC, ONGC Foundation extended support of ₹ 4.38 Crore for these ambulances including four years maintenance contract.
On the occasion, a film highlighting ONGC’s CSR initiatives for socio-economic development of Assam was also screened.
In early 2013, under CSR, financial assistance of ₹ 7.5 Cr was extended by ONGC to Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh for setting up advanced Cath Lab. This laboratory caters to patients from Upper Assam and also enables teachers to provide training to PG students.

In continuation of its efforts, ONGC is establishing a 300 bedded hospital in Sivasagar (Swargadew-Siu-Ka-Pha Hospital). It is being built in a project costing 483 crore in three phases. Since its first phase was inaugurated in March 2019, it has treated around 61,500 OPD patients. The Dialysis Center of the Hospital has treated 16500 patients till date.
