Henry County, Ga. – The manhunt continues for a suspect in the shooting death of a Georgia detention officer and the fatal shooting of a man at a Henry County apartment complex.
Officials say 32-year-old Bretson Thomas is “armed and dangerous” and remains at large days after the fatal shooting.
On Sunday, investigators say they found the gray 2020 Toyota Camry they believe Thomas was driving after fleeing from law enforcement in Atlanta. Officials did not say where the car was found.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Friday at the Haddon Place Apartments near the 4000 block of Willow Lane. Although no further details about the shooting have been released, investigators say one person was killed and a Henry County detention officer was seriously injured.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for Thomas’ arrest for murder and two counts of assault. On Friday, Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett called Thomas “armed and dangerous.” Law enforcement says he is wanted for attacks in Clayton County and Miami, Florida.
Thomas has two different New Orleans Saints tattoos on his neck. The Georgia State Patrol said he was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a dark-colored hoodie.
On Sunday, investigators shared a Snapchat video from Thomas, who went by the username goodmoney_block.
“I recommend you turn yourself in, Mr. Thomas, for we will not eat or sleep until you are in custody,” Scandrett said.
The injured detention officer, identified only as Officer Williams, was in critical but stable condition after being airlifted to a hospital for life support. The name of the victim has not been released. Police said both men had been shot multiple times.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers Atlanta are offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and indictment of Thomas.
Officers say they should not approach Thomas if they see him. Instead, you should call 911 as soon as possible.
What is a ‘Blue Alert’ in Georgia?
Law enforcement in Georgia can issue a Blue Alert when an armed and dangerous suspect is at large who has seriously injured or killed an officer or deputy. It can also be issued for a law enforcement officer who goes missing in the line of duty and is believed to be in extreme danger.
Activation must meet certain criteria, the most likely being that the individual poses a direct and serious threat to the public.
An alert can be issued once sufficient information is available to assist the public in locating the suspect.
Information will be forwarded to the Georgia Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center.
Local law enforcement will forward the request to state officials, who will issue an alert.
Once the alert is issued, it will be provided to the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and individual local news outlets.
Anyone who sees the subject of the Blue Alert should not approach, but instead call 911 immediately.
